Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli

I love cooking.  I really enjoy everything that goes into making dishes.  I love looking up recipes and trying to make new dishes too.  One staple I love to make with any dinner is roasted broccoli and brussel sprouts.  It is an easy go to side that my husband always loves and Millie is opening up to liking. I make them individually too using the same recipe, but I like to make them together often!

I know not everyone likes brussel sprouts, but I love them.  I love to make them in different ways, and cook with them in other dishes as well.  I love to add them into pasta or use them when I make a rice dish.  I always love to make them using bacon too. Mmmm Bacon and Brussel sprouts.  But what isn’t improved when cooking it with bacon?! Broccoli is one of those vegetables that I love, but when they are overcooked and mushy I just can’t eat them.  There is nothing worse them mushy almost white broccoli.  You can over steam your broccoli!  Yuck!

The recipe I use to make roasted broccoli and brussel sprouts is very simple and a perfect side for any meal.  I make them when we have chicken, pork, steak, pasta, and more!

Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli

Ingredients:

Bag of Brussel Sprouts

Bag of Broccoli

2 tbsp- Olive Oil

½ tsp- Minced Garlic

Generous Salt and Pepper

Preheat your oven to 425*.  Cut off the steam/bottom of the brussel sprouts and cut into quarters. Put them into a large mixing bowl.  Next, trim the broccoli and cut the large pieces into smaller ones.  I like to try to have most of my pieces around the same size, it helps them cook more evenly.  Put the broccoli into the mixing bowl with the brussel sprouts.  Pour 1TBSP of olive oil in.  Mix well.  Add the next TBSP of olive oil- you may need to add more or a little less depending on how well they are covered.  Add ½ tsp of minced garlic (I used the dried minced garlic).  Mix well.  Generously add salt and pepper. Mix well.  Once mixed well pour onto a foil lined baking sheet (I line mine with foil so clean up is easier).  Place into preheated oven for 12 minutes.  At 12 minutes mix them up a bit.  Put back into the oven for an addition 10-12 minutes.  Put out and serve immediately.

I prefer mine a bit more ‘done’. I love the crispy pieces! Soooo good! So if you don’t prefer them as done, place in oven for an additional 7 – 10 minutes.

Cut the bottom off and cut into quarters
I like to make the broccoli the same size if possible
Make sure the veggies are evenly coated. You may need less or more olive oil!
Spread on baking sheet. You may need two sheets!
Stir them around about 12 mins in!
Perfectly roasted Brussel sprouts and broccoli!

That’s it is! Easy peasy! Like I said before it is an easy side dish to add to any meal. You can make the same recipe for easy roasted broccoli or easy roasted brussel sprouts. I would cut the olive oil and seasoning in half though! If you have wanted to know How to roast brussel sprouts or how to roast broccoli now you know! How do you like to cook your broccoli and/or brussel sprouts? Roasted broccoli? Steamed Broccoli? Any other ways?
